If parking at your office was valet only, would you use it? I parked for the first time in the new valet only lot and begged the valet to let me park my own car. He relented and I parked.
The reason for the switch is that !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! I park in. A nice new facility, but it will really mess with the area.
There is no chance in hell that I’m letting a valet touch my cars. My biggest client is a parking company and has literally thousands of valet claims a year.
Would you valet your car? I can avoid it if I get to work before 6am.... But no.

IF you can get my keys away from me, you can park my car, Mr. Valet. Also, I bite.

The other day I saw a Valet redlining a Toyota Rav4 in neutral in traffic for no good reason, nevermind how agressive they are.
Normally valets know that, if you have a fancy/fast car you don’t trust them, so they offer to move a car their prked before and give you that spot in exchange for the normal fee
That being said, no. I would never give my car to a valet, if I know a place I’m going is valet only, then I take an uber

I would suggest talking to the valet and see if you can make an agreement about a parking space and parking my own car. Spot them a nice tip and maybe they would be cool with it.

I would, esspecially if you got to know the valet’s over time.
In my experience though, valet’s just want a tip, I’ve tipped occasionally to let me park my own.
but tipping (whether it be for letting the valet do the work or for you to) would get REALLY old if it was daily!

If I worked at an office that was valet only, I’d ask for a huge raise and an S class provided by said company.

I valet my car everyday. The usual guy has offered to buy it. Twice. Doesn’t scare me in the least.

of course, nothing is more heartbreaking that watching a valet or hand car wash attendant stall my car three times in a row :S

Tentative yes? If possible I’d wait and see how it works out for others in the office. I’d want to know how their cars are treated and, I think more importantly, how consistent the staff is. If there is a new guy every day that is a no-go, but if the valet is the same person constantly that is acceptable.
I guess the alternative would be to pay for off-site parking, with the possibility of getting work to pay for some/all of it.

Exactly. I was driving my Fiesta (ST, sure but still) and they had just valeted a 911. My car’s entire value would be the deductible on most of these vehicles collision coverage.

I also don’t care if the car gets dinged. It’s not some sort of rare supercar, it’s a Volvo. Albeit a low volume, highly modified Volvo that is tons of fun to drive.
Maybe I should reconsider...

I have no problem with other people driving or parking my cars. I’d be a little grumpy about needing to valet my car daily from a financial perspective, but other than that, go for it.

You’re going to see these people every day, no? That alone sort of puts some accountability on the valets.
My dad taught me, “Don’t shit in your own backyard and don’t bite the hand that feeds you.” Bad behavior at a corporate valet gig would be a violation of both.
Valet the damn car. My $0.02.

I would. Cars can always be fixed. I don’t have the fear of some one wrecking my car that I once had. Now if I found out they took it out for a joy ride, some one is getting an ass whooping. But no one joy rides a mid-size truck or a hail damaged decade old Saab, so I’m in the clear.

I combat this, truthfully, by driving a car with a manual transmission. The few times I’ve had to use valet parking, they look quizzically at the shift knob, and just let me do it.

I wouldn’t, but not because of my dinged up 14 year old car. I just don’t feel comfortable giving my keys to someone to park it when there is a gun in the car, which there always is. Ive always been a bit fuzzy on the law in that regards also. Mainly I wouldn’t want my gun to be stolen from the car and then used to commit a crime.

I don’t fear valet. I just don’t like waiting and paying when it costs. I usually get around it because there are handicap spaces nearby in view, and I just get them to let me park it there.

Its just locked in the glove box, it really should be in a car safe but that takes money. Having a CCW does mean I can technically store the pistol however I like in a car, including loaded and in plain site, but this would absurdly stupid.

I had a valet put a car into the wall at full speed due to it being configured for hand controls this week.

I just had a neighbor get her gun stolen from in her garage because it was unsecured in the car. It leads me to wonder how a gun safe is installed in a car. We now have open carry, but we also have so many buildings prohibit openly carried guns. I’m guessing this has lead to lots of Texans with this problem.

Wow. I went to an appointment where the valet only garage allows hand control cars to self park because they’re afraid of that sort of thing. Lots of folks don’t know that you can usually just ignore the hand controls and drive normally. Good for me though.

Have you seen the list of cars you can buy with a manual transmission in America? Cross-compare that list with the likelihood that people driving those cars will be fanschey enough to go to placed with valet parking, and you might have your answer, I guess.

I understand your concern, but sometimes you just have to let it go. Let them park it.
20% of all accidents happen in parking lots. I wonder if that number is lower for valets, since there are less people driving around in the lot?

I have valeted? Valetered? Any who, I did it once with my incredibly loud fart canned 90 Accord autotragic. I wasn’t really concerned. If I were to do it now I would try to avoid it. Hell, if I were to attempt it with my Firebird the would have to know what a manual choke is and how to operate it just so.
